OK I know what a call center is but what do they do?

It really depends on what kind of a call center it is. There are two main types inbound call centers and outbound call centers.

An inbound call center can have any or all of the following. Many different groups need need inbound call centers. Some of the examples of inbound call centers are.

  • Answering service
  • Reservations

The other major type of call center is the outbound call center. Some people have a bad view of outbound call centers because these are the ones that have telemarketers and collection agents. Examples of outbound call centers include the following.

  • Telemarketers
  • Lead generation
  • Surveys
  • Data mining
  • Announcements
  • Fund raising
